Friday, November 18th, 2011 -- 10:20 AM
If you?ve traveled on US 10 lately, you know big changes are happening. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) reports crews recently opened the new US 10/WIS 34 south interchange, west of Junction City. The new interchange is part of the US 10 Marshfield to Stevens Point corridor expansion.
Now that the interchange is open to traffic, WIS 34 between US 10 and WIS 66 is no longer detoured.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is expanding 31 miles of US 10 from two to four lanes. The new highway currently bypasses downtown Stevens Point (west of I-39) and Junction City. The new alignment will also bypass the communities of Auburndale, Blenker, and Milladore.
Construction began in 2006 and is currently scheduled for completion in 2012.
