Despite objections from some of the board?s more conservative members, supervisors approved a resolution banning concealed weapons in county-owned buildings. The resolution passed 18-10 on Tuesday.
Chili area supervisor Bryl Dahl warned, by passing the resolution, supervisors would encourage criminals to shoot up county buildings.
"You are creating a free-shooting zone for the criminals," he said. "He don't care if there's a sign up or not."
The resolution will outlaw the ?carrying of firearms and concealed weapons of any type in any building owned, occupied or controlled by Clark County, by any person other than an authorized law enforcement officer.?
It also directs the maintenance staff to place signs at building entrances in conformity with the state law.
