Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources biologists have confirmed the authenticity of a picture of a cougar taken by a trail camera in Juneau County last week. The big cat was spotted a few miles north of Mauston.
It is the seventh confirmed time a trail camera photo of a cougar in Wisconsin, and at least the third different cougar photographed.
Biologists Adrian Wydeven and Jon Robaidek visited the site last week. They were able to examine the area where the cat was photographed, and determined it was probably a young male animal searching for new territory.
