TRUCKER KNOCKS OVER STOPLIGHT, KEEPS TRUCKIN'

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011 -- 1:15 PM

A truck driver from Minnesota was picked up several miles south of Neillsville after he allegedly knocked over a stoplight, but he says he wasn?t trying to flee.

According to police reports, the 30-year-old Monson Truck Lines driver knocked over a stoplight at the corner of Hewett and Division Monday afternoon. The light fell onto a house. No one was injured.

The driver continued southbound on STH 95, as a witness called authorities to report the incident.

Deputies eventually caught up with the driver, who said he was aware he had knocked over the light, but wanted to pull over somewhere safer. He said he decided it would be best for him to travel to the next town and then call to report the accident.

Neillsville Police are considering citing the driver for failure to notify.
