BRABAZON GOING TO PRISON
Thursday, October 6th, 2011 -- 11:40 AM
From Matt Lehman, WRN:The woman who forged a state lawmaker's signature on checks while the two dated in 2007 has been sentenced to three years in prison and nine years on extended supervision.
A judge imposed the sentence on Lisa Brabazon Wednesday, ruling that she has repeatedly gained and abused the trust of people in her life.
?My hope is that you use this as a learning experience to change your ways once and for all so that this is your last trip [to prison],? Marathon County Judge Greg Grau said.
Grau ordered Brabazon to pay $1,200 in restitution to state Representative Scott Suder (R-Abbotsford) and nearly $670 to Discover and a central Wisconsin convenience store. Brabazon will get credit for just over five months that she's already sat in jail.
?I have committed a crime which I regret,? Brabazon said. ?I have received a punishment that is worse than jail and that punishment is the loss of people I love.?
The state revoked Brabazon's probation after prosecutors in Portage County charged her this summer with stealing and pawning $11,000 worth of jewelry from her boyfriend's mother, whom she lived with in Stevens Point.
