LOCAL, STATE UNEMPLOYMENT RATES IMPROVE

Wisconsin's employment picture was generally improved in August.68 of 72 counties had lower jobless rates in August than July, according to the Department of Workforce Development?s monthly [url=http://dwd.wisconsin.gov/dwd/newsreleases/2011/unemployment/110921_august_local.pdf]report[/url].
In Clark County, the unemployment rate fell from 7.2% to 7%; the county?s rank moved from 37th highest to 34th highest.
Elsewhere in the area, Marathon County?s unemployment rate was 7.4%, Wood County?s was 7.7%, Jackson County?s was 7.7% and Eau Claire?s was 6.5%.
At 5.1%, Dane County continues to have the best unemployment rate in the state, while Menominee County has the highest at 9%.
