Thursday, September 15th, 2011 -- 10:40 AM
If you?ve done some grocery shopping lately, you?ve probably noticed a dollar is not going as far as usual.Experts are pointing to two main culprits: wheat and corn.
There are several factors contributing to the exploding costs of these two commodities. Russia has experienced some major weather problems impacting their wheat production. Analysts say ethanol production is largely behind the increased price of corn.
These two food staples are used in many different grocery items. Analysts say cereals, breads, pastas, sweets, beef, pork, chicken and pet foods have all seen price jumps because of the commodity price increases.
