An area high school girls basketball coach is charged with sexually assaulting one of his players.Rory McKellips is a familiar name for area high school sports fans. He coached the Mosinee Indians girls basketball team for years.
Now, Marathon County authorities say a teen girl told them she had sexual contact with McKellips three times over the past few months.
The relationship allegedly started via text messages and escalated with the girl going to his house three times.
When the girls parents became concerned he was texting their daughter, they told McKellips he should call their home phone if he needed to talk to her. That prompted him to give the girl a different cell phone so the conversations could continue.
McKellips led the Mosinee girls' basketball team to state five times, winning once in 2000.
He's currently held at the Marathon County jail on a $25,000 cash bond.
