WHOOPING COUGH IN WOOD CO.

Whooping cough has reared its ugly head again this year.Health officials in Wood County say there have been over one dozen confirmed cases there in recent weeks.
The bacterial disease is highly contagious and is marked by violent coughing fits with the trademark ?whooping? sound, as the person tries to inhale air.
The Marshfield NewsHerald reports cases have been confirmed in Nekoosa, Wisconsin Rapids, Pittsville, Arpin and Marshfield.
Children should be vaccinated against the bacteria at 2 months, 4 months and 6 months and when the child is 15 to 18 months old and 4 to 6 years old.
