LOCAL DAIRY FACES FINES FOR MISHAP

A local dairy is facing fines for a mishap that caused waste water to be discharged into a creek.According to the Attorney General?s office, Lynn Dairy faces about $13,000 in fines for the 2009 incident. Employees, attempting to unclog a drain, accidentally pumped ?permeate? into the Cunningham Creek.
The thick liquid caused a fish kill and coated about 12 miles of waterway with sediment.
The fine includes $7,000 in costs to Clark County, $2,000 to the state, and $4,000 to the DNR for having to respond to the complaint.
