LOYAL SCHOOL TAXES GOING DOWN

A local school expects to see a 17% drop in their tax levy next year.According to this week?s TRG, Loyal school officials were pleasantly surprised to see they're one of only a handful of Wisconsin schools that will actually get more state aid under the state's new two-year budget.
That, coupled with savings from re-worked employees? contracts and a reduction in their overall revenue-limit will lead to the school?s tax levy falling from $1.5 million to $1.24 million.
The district?s projected budget shortfall is also expected to plummet from $400,000 to just $70,000.
The budget will go before district residents at the school?s annual meeting on September 12.
