GRANTON SCHOOL BOARD TO REVIEW PROPOSALS
Wednesday, August 17th, 2011 -- 11:38 AM
The Granton School Board will hold a special meeting Wednesday night to take another step toward the possible closure of their high school next year.Granton has been exploring ?whole grade sharing? as an option to address declining enrollments. Under such an arrangement, Granton would operate a pre-K through eighth grade school and pay tuition to another district for the education of their high school students.
Over the summer, the board conducted a survey of district stakeholders and submitted a ?Request For Proposal? from Loyal, Marshfield and Neillsville.
Superintendent Charles Buckel says the district received those proposals and will review them for the first time tonight.
Under Granton?s time line, the board will approve an agreement with one of the schools by the end of September, and then implement a plan to assimilate their students to their new high school in time for the 2012-13 school year.
