GRANTON CONTINUES PURSUIT OF 'WHOLE GRADE SHARING' AGREEMENT
Monday, July 18th, 2011 -- 12:06 PM
The Granton School Board continues to move toward an agreement that would send their high school students to a different school beginning in September of 2012.According to the TRG, the Granton board last week reaffirmed a time line that would see them negotiate with three area schools ? Loyal, Marshfield and Neillsville ? on an arrangement known as ?whole grade sharing.?
Under such a plan, Granton would operate a Pre-K through 8th grade school and pay tuition to another district for the education of their high school students.
Representatives of the Loyal school district attended Granton?s regular board meeting last week. Granton?s board will attend Neillsville?s board meeting Monday night and Loyal?s meeting Wednesday night.
Marshfield?s board has indicated they?re not prepared to discuss the proposal yet.
Under Granton?s time line, the district will approve an agreement with one of the three schools by the end of September, and then implement a plan to assimilate their students to their new high school.
