WISCONSIN WEIGHS IN ON WALKER, OBAMA
Thursday, July 14th, 2011 -- 1:15 PM
Two new polls show Wisconsin is polarized, with so-so support for Pres. Barack Obama, and even less for Gov. Scott Walker.59% of residents disapprove of Walker's performance, according to the University of Wisconsin Survey Center's Badger Poll.
Walker tackled the state's budget deficit by curtailing public workers' collective bargaining rights and slashing aid to public schools and local municipalities.
Meanwhile, Pres. Obama's approval rating is at 50%.
Wisconsin is considered a swing state and extremely important for Obama's reelection chances.
The random telephone poll of 556 people was conducted between June 17 and July 10. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.2 percentage points.
