The first day of Wisconsin's Farm Technology Days was a big success.

Hundreds of people went to Seehafer Acres just north of Marshfield for the first of a three-day show.

"It was excellent," boasted host farmer Ken Seehafer. "The weather cooled off a little bit. There was no wind and no rain."

Organizers had to scramble to get the farm ready, after high winds took down much of tent city a week-and-a-half ago, and an inch-and-a-half of rain came down early Monday morning.

"Thanks to the hundreds of volunteers. They were working at 11 o'clock last night. They've been wonderful," Seehafer said.

Marathon County is the home county of the new Alice in Dairyland Katie Wirkus.

"It's a very special year to be Alice in Dairyland because I get to be in my home county for three days," Wirkus exclaimed. "Lots going on and lots to be excited about here in Marathon County."

Wirkus is an Edgar High School graduate.

Marathon County hosted what was then Farm Progress Days in 1974 and again 1996.
