A report from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development released Wednesday shows that unemployment rates increased in 25 cities with a population of 25,000 people or more. Only Stevens Point saw rates drop, from 7.9% to 7.8%.
"The pro-growth, job friendly environment that my Republican colleagues and I in the legislature have championed this session is paying real dividends," states Rep. Scott Suder (R-Abbotsford).
Suder points to the fact Clark County?s unemployment rate improved by .4% as evidence Republican initiatives are working. At 8%, Clark County still has the 33rd highest unemployment rate in the state.
Dane County had the lowest unemployment for the month at 5.1% with Menominee County the highest at 18.1%.
Unemployment statewide was 7.4% in May.
