ETHANOL TAX CREDIT SURVIVES
Wednesday, June 15th, 2011 -- 1:41 PM
A big win for the country?s ethanol industry. The U.S. Senate Tuesday voted against eliminating a tax break and a tariff that support ethanol production.
The 40-59 tally left opponents of federal support for ethanol 20 votes short of the 60 votes needed to advance the measure.
The measure would have ended a .45-cent per gallon credit for refineries who mix corn-based ethanol with gasoline.
