AUTHORITIES: WATCH OUT FOR PHONE SCAM

The Wood County Sheriff?s Department is warning area residents of a possible telephone scam.A resident in the Cameron Township, south of Marshfield, reported receiving numerous calls from a company identifying itself as VSUW Discount located in Philadelphia. The caller told the resident that his telephone number had been picked randomly and that he had won a $100 Wal-Mart gift card. The caller then requests a credit card number for shipping and handling in order to pay to have the gift card sent.
The investigation into this probable scam continues, but authorities remind you to use extreme caution any time someone requests your personal information or credit card information over the telephone.
