AIR FORCE INVESTIGATES JET CRASH

A pilot escaped serious injury when the F-16 fighter jet he was flying crashed into a vacant home in Adams County.The Air National Guard jet had taken off from Volk Field Tuesday afternoon. It's not clear why the aircraft crashed in the Adams County town of New Chester.
About 50 people were evacuated from homes near the crash site because of fire and smoke.
A witness reports seeing the plane crash and explode with "flames shooting in the sky several hundred feet."
The F-16 was 1 of 18 operated by the 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard based in Madison.
