Friday, June 3rd, 2011 -- 9:50 AM
The executive director of the Marshfield Community Development Authority is expected to enter a plea next week to federal charges he embezzled more than $5,000 from the agency.Investigators say Tim Kraus embezzled funds between July 2008 and June 2009 by making unauthorized purchases with CDA funds, misapplying rent money from tenants of a CDA-owned apartment and purchasing gasoline for his personal vehicle with a CDA credit card.
According to the Marshfield NewsHerald, the CDA is an independent branch of city government and receives about $1 million annually from HUD to administer the city's subsidized housing program.
He could spend 10 years in prison, be forced to pay restitution and serve a period of supervised release.
Kraus' trial had been set for June 13 before U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb.
