Friday, June 3rd, 2011 -- 9:48 AM
The Neillsville Economic Development Commission green-lighted a proposed childcare center last night.According to Neillsville Mayor Dewey Poeschel, the commission made a unanimous recommendation to the City Council that Stepping Stones Early Learning Center be given a $15,000 start-up grant.
Poeschel says representatives from the proposed facility are exploring purchasing an existing city building or possibility building a new facility. They would be licensed to care for up to 50 children and hope to be operational by the beginning of the next school year.
The recommendation will be taken up by the full City Council at their next meeting on June 14th.
