XCEL FILES RATE INCREASE PLAN

Xcel Energy has filed a request to raise electricity and natural gas rates.The application filed Wednesday with the Public Service Commission (PSC) would raise monthly electricity rates $3.27 and natural gas rates $3.55 for the average customer.
If approved by the PSC, the new rates would take effect January 1, 2012.
Xcel Energy says it will likely file another rate increase request in 2013 due to several large infrastructure projects scheduled to be completed in the next year.
