Friday, May 27th, 2011 -- 2:49 PM
The Memorial Day weekend is upon us. If you?re traveling, you won?t be alone.AAA says nearly 700,000 state residents will likely hit the road this weekend, about the same number as last year. But, gas prices are far from the same as last year. They're up about $1 a gallon, averaging $3.85 per gallon.
There will be a number of Memorial Day Services around the area on Monday.
Here in Neillsville, there will be a parade at 10:30 starting at the O? Neill Creek Bridge at Hewett Street. The service will continue to the cemetery for a ceremony at 11 a.m. led by the Neillsville VFW and featuring the Neillsville High School band.
The Highground will hold a ceremony at 1 p.m. on Monday.
In Loyal, there will be a parade at 9:15 a.m. starting at the high school and traveling to the Loyal City Cemetery.
In Greenwood, there will be a parade beginning 10 a.m. near City Hall on Mainstreet. It will travel to the High School gym where Randy Lenser, 7th District American Legion Commander, will give the keynote address.
