UNEMPLOYMENT DOWN IN CLARK CO.

The unemployment rate dropped in all of Wisconsin's major cities in April and plummeted in Clark County.[url=http://dwd.wisconsin.gov/dwd/newsreleases/2011/unemployment/110525_april_local.pdf]Data released Wednesday from the Department of Workforce Development[/url] shows all 31 of the state's major municipalities saw a drop in unemployment rates from March to April.
70 of 72 counties saw their jobless rate improve; only Iron and Menominee counties saw jumps.
Here in Clark County, the jobless rate dropped 1.5 percentage points from 9.9% in March to 8.4% in April. Clark County?s rank fell from 24th highest in March to 29th in April. The 8.4% rate is more than a full point higher than the state unemployment rate of 7.3%.
Menominee had the highest rate of any county in the state at 16.8%. Dane County had the lowest at 4.9%.
National unemployment for April rose to 9%.
