PHOTO ID BILL PASSES STATE SENATE
Thursday, May 19th, 2011 -- 2:22 PM
The Wisconsin State Senate passed a bill requiring voters to show a photo ID in order to vote and outlawing straight party voting.Depending on which side of the aisle you?re on, the bill will either ensure fair elections, or disenfranchise thousands of seniors and students?many of whom don?t have a photo ID.
The Senate passed the bill on a party-line 19-5 vote, with some Democrats refusing to vote in protest. The Republican majority limited debate one hour over the objection of Democrats.
There was chaos again in the Senate Chambers as Democrats shouted ?shame!? and Republicans quickly adjourned the session.
