Tuesday, May 10th, 2011 -- 12:15 PM
A storm packing powerful winds knocked down trees and cut power to thousands of residents in central and northern Wisconsin Monday. The winds around here really whipped around us 2 p.m., and were accompanied by some pea-sized hail.
We had a number of trees down and sporadic power outages in an around Neillsville. There were reports of trees uprooted and laying on top of power lines near Willard.
Things were worse near Wausau where nearly 9,000 Wisconsin Public Service Corp. customers lost power. WPSC says another 4,000 in Antigo and 4,000 in Minocqua also lost power.
