A Black River Falls man was sentenced for interfering with child custody in Jackson County Court on Thursday.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, back in August of last year, they received a call of a possible child abduction. A 9-year-old girl got into a vehicle driven by Bernard Stubrud.
The child was located by a grandparent. Stubrud left that location and his vehicle was later found by a conservation warden. During his court appearance on Thursday, Stubrud was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, interfere with child custody.
Several other charges were dismissed and read in. He was sentenced to 3 years of probation with a condition of one year jail time.
