THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE?
Wednesday, April 27th, 2011 -- 2:50 PM
A statewide recount of the April 5th Supreme Court race is underway.Final county tallies released earlier this month show challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg down by 7,316 votes to incumbent Justice David Prosser.
It?s not exactly the most exciting process, but it is historic; it?s the first statewide recount in Wisconsin since the 1880s.
The Clark County Board of Canvassers, comprised of County Clerk Christina Jensen, one Republican and one Democrat, were examining the ballots and voter registration list Wednesday morning.
Representatives from both the Prosser and Kloppenburg campaigns were observing the process.
Because Prosser's margin of victory was less than one-half of 1%, the recount will be done at taxpayer expense.
