COMMUNITY PLANS FUNDRAISER
Friday, March 25th, 2011 -- 2:36 PM
(Press Release) The Granton FFA Chapter has been busy organizing a community service family fun night for Tuesday, April 5. The proceeds will be used to help the Michelle Bandt family with medical costs. Michelle is the daughter of Chester Oldham and Ann Zeigler. She is married to Dwayne Bandt and they have 2 children that attend Granton Schools. Michelle and Dwayne are also both Granton Graduates.Michelle was diagnosed with a rare and unusual disorder that has caused her to lose various body functions, including the ability to walk. She is already confined to a wheelchair and the illness is progressing quickly. As a result, they have acquired numerous medical expenses for therapy and equipment. We are anticipating that they will also need additional modifications to their home, including a lift, to ensure that she can remain at home as long as possible. They have found no cure for this rare disorder, so we are hoping to assist the family that they may have as much positive support as possible in this difficult time.
So, with all that being said, the FFA kids have planned an awesome Spring Carnival event, encouraging families to get out and enjoy some fun.
A few weeks ago, the Granton Fire and Rescue approached us wanting to also get involved and they are going to sponsor a spaghetti supper in conjunction with the carnival. There is a flyer attached with all the details, so please check it out.
All events will run from 5 to 8 PM. You can come and have dinner, bring children to play games, participate in the cake walk, donation drawing or silent auction, all to show support to Michelle and her family.
The dinner will be at the cafeteria and carnival and fundraising events in the field house.
We are asking that anyone wanting to contribute items for the silent auction and donation drawing contact Cheryl Steinbach at 715-238-7175 and that they be received by April 1, so that the FFA members have time to get everything organized. Contributors will be recognized on an appreciation board that evening.
We are especially excited that Thrivent Financial will be providing Supplemental Funds for the event. Please help contribute to this worthy community service project.
