ROENZ MISSES COURT HEARING
Thursday, March 10th, 2011 -- 2:06 PM
More legal trouble for former Neillsville teacher and church treasurer accused of stealing thousands of dollars from his congregation.John Roenz of Neillsville was supposed to be in court for an arraignment hearing Thursday morning. He is accused of stealing around $140,000 from Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville. The hearing was scheduled for 10:15, but neither he or his attorney showed up.
At around 10:30, Clark County Circuit Court Judge Jon Counsell issued a bench warrant for his arrest. After he?s arrested, he?ll be booked into the Clark County Jail, presumably until an arraignment hearing can be scheduled.
Roenz has filed a request for a substitute judge in the matter, but Judge Counsell said statute allows him to handle the arraignment proceedings.
