If you?re like us, the mere sight of the needle getting close to ?E? on the fuel gauge makes you wince.Gas prices have exploded in recent weeks, up almost .50-cents from the beginning of the year.
According to AAA the current price for a gallon of unleaded gas in Wisconsin is hovering just above $3.50--$3.49 here in Neillsville. In January that price per gallon was closer to $3.00.
The reason, according to many analysts, is a perfect storm of factors, including unrest in the Middle East and an improving economy that?s increased usage.
The current national average is about $3.41. The highest prices are out in California where customers are paying $3.85 to fill up their tank.
