A number of area schools are closed Monday after a winter storm moved through the area Sunday. The National Weather Service in La Crosse says our listening area was in a band that saw between 8-12? of snow. There was also considerable blowing and drifting. The snow was especially heavy in our area at around noon, yesterday. It caused nearly whiteout conditions. According to Clark County dispatch logs, there were nearly 20 accidents or slide-ins yesterday.
The DOT warns that there are still treacherous driving conditions out there.
If you?re hitting the interstate, watch out for tow trucks that will also begin removing the numerous vehicles that are in ditches and medians along I-94. On Sunday, the State Patrol responded to nearly 100 slide-ins and 29 crashes on the interstate from Hudson to Black River Falls.
