A former Marshfield alderman is facing federal charges for embezzling more than five-thousand dollars while he ran the city's senior housing program.A federal grand jury issued the indictment Wednesday, against 47-year-old Tim Kraus. The indictment alleges the embezzlement occurred between July of 2008 and June of 2009, while Kraus worked as the Executive Director of Marshfield's Community Development Authority. If convicted, Kraus faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in a federal prison.
The charge against Kraus is the result of an investigation by the Marshfield Police Department and the U-S Department of Housing and Urban Development, which issues federal funding to the CDA.
Kraus resigned in November of 2009, three months after the investigation came to light. He served as a Marshfield alderman, and also ran two unsuccessful campaigns for Mayor.
