WIND CHILL ADVISORY TONIGHT
Thursday, January 20th, 2011 -- 6:58 AM
The coldest air of the season will hit the area today thru Friday. A wind chill advisory is in effect from 6 pm this evening to 9 am on Friday. A wind chill advisory means that every cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors, make sure you wear a hat and gloves. An Arctic cold front will move through the area today. This front will bring in one of the coldest air masses of the winter so far. The combination of wind and bitterly cold temperatures will produce wind chills in the minus 20 to minus 30 degree range from this evening through 9 am Friday morning. Wind chills this low can cause exposed skin to freeze in less than thirty minutes.Feel free to contact us with questions and/or comments.
