CITY OF LOYAL TO GET TOUGH ON UTILITY BILLS
Saturday, January 1st, 2011 -- 6:21 AM
The City of Loyal is ready to get tough on residents who aren?t paying their utility bills.According to the week?s TRG, this year?s books show the city has $26,000 in delinquent water bills from 48 customers.
Current city ordinance allows for the action, but the city had not been enforcing the rule. This year, they've seen a huge increase in delinquencies, and have been forced to transfer the $26,000 on to the property tax bills. That prompted the city council last week to unanimously approve a recommendation to take action.
The first shut-offs could occur by early March.
