SECRET SANTA GIVES $1,000 IN MARSHFIELD

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010 -- 12:03 PM

Organizers of Marshfield?s Rotary Winter Wonderland say a Secret Santa made quite a donation last night.

"Someone came down to the park and put a donation of $1,000 into the bucket. This was during the snowstorm," spokesperson Marty Anderson says.

It's the 3rd year in a row that someone has anonymously donated $1,000.

"It was actually ten, crisp $100 bills," Anderson explains. "It warmed everyone's spirits down at the park."

This holiday lights display at Wildwood Park and Zoo is free, but gathers donations of non-perishable food items for local pantries. Nearly 47,000 food items were donated through the Winter Wonderland last year.

Anderson says the weather?especially last weekend?s blizzard?has impacted turnout. He hopes people make plans to stop out this week, or next

The display will be open from 5-9 p.m. every night from the opening through Wednesday, January 1.
