ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO DELIST THE WOLF
Monday, December 13th, 2010 -- 12:19 PM
For the third time in seven years, the federal government will attempt to remove gray wolves from the endangered species list.U.S. Department of the Interior officials say they plan to release a proposal by April and hopes to make a final decision by the end of 2011.
The government has tried as recently as 2009 to remove the protections, but have been thwarted by animal rights groups, who've successfully waged court battles against the action.
Officials say they believe the new plan will withstand court challenges.
