Tuesday, November 30th, 2010 -- 10:16 AM
The Village of Merrillan is moving ahead with the rehabilitation of sewer utilities along the USH 12/STH 27 route prior to reconstruction of the highway in 2013. Village officials also intend to address other sewer utilities in need of repair. Finally, the village intends to provide low-pressure sewer service to 15 existing residences with private on-site systems in the Jackson and N. Hayden streets area and to Gile Park.
The Village has requested Clean Water Fund loans to help pay for the construction, which is estimated to cost $674,319. The average user charge for a typical residential customer is expected to increase $12.73 per month to $44.96.
A Community Development Block Grant is also being pursued. A reduction of $6.46 per month is possible if a block grant is received. Existing user charges average $32.23 per month.
