TONS OF TWISTERS
Friday, November 26th, 2010 -- 12:14 PM
You'd think, with Thanksgiving behind us and all, the tornado season would be over? but the way this year has gone, maybe we shouldn?t be so sure. Two twisters struck Walworth and Racine counties this week pushing the number of confirmed tornadoes in Wisconsin this year to 46 - the second busiest year on record. Only 2005 had more, with 62 tornadoes.
Five of the tornadoes that swept through the state this year were rated EF2; one tornado traveled almost 31 miles through southern Clark County. No one was killed in Wisconsin by a tornado this year, though 21 people were seriously injured in four of the twisters. While tornadoes have touched down in Wisconsin every month except for February, it's rare for them to happen in November.
