MARATHON COUNTY TEAMS WINS NATIONAL 4-H CONTEST

A team from Marathon County has won the National 4-H Livestock Skill-a-thon contest. Spencer Vo-Ag instructor Mark Zimmerman coaches the four-member team of16-to-18 year-olds.
"There are a wide variety of activities that have to do with meat and feeds, evaluation, records. They had six individual stations and six team stations they had to do," Zimmerman explains.
Team members included Erin Zimmerman from Spencer, Theresa Bergs from Edgar, and Morgan Zernicke and Maddy Schwede or Wausau.
The competition involves beef, swine, sheep and goats. A team from Grant County placed third in the livestock judging, the competition is part of the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville.
