One of the few remaining independent hospitals wants to stay that way.Memorial Medical Center has developed a 5-year strategic plan called ?Vision 2015.?
CEO Scott Polenz says remaining independent seems to be important to the community.
"The main deal is just community pride," Polenz says. "Our board consists of two physicians and nine community members. They're local people and the decisions are made by them."
Polenz says the plan has 8 facets, including community engagement and wellness, Electronic Health Records, service excellence, financial stability and market share.
"We're trying to focus on growth. We know there are a lot of people in our communities that go to other health care facilities for primary care and general surgery things. We're trying to get people to recognize we can be a good health care partner for them," he says.
MMC wants the public to weigh in on the plan. They?ll host meetings next Wednesday at 9 a.m., 12 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Food will be served, but you?re asked to RSVP by calling 743-8454.
