KIND VS. KAPANKE MIGHT NOT BE OVER

A western Wisconsin Congressman won reelection on Tuesday, but his battle with his challenger may not be over.Democrat Ron Kind earned a 50% to 47% win over Republican State Senator Dan Kapanke.
The race turned nasty in the final weeks as Kapanke supporters launched an old-fashioned ?October Surprise,? claiming Kind forced doctors to pay to meet with him. Kapanke said he wasn?t behind the claims, but his campaign issued press releases detailing the charges.
"It established a new ethical low, even for State Senator Dan Kapanke," Kind said Wednesday.
Kind says the allegations are completely false and represented a ?Hail Mary."
"It was a sign of desperation from a desperate candidate and campaign willing to do anything to get elected," he accused, "even if means ruining the reputation and the character of myself and my staff."
Now, the congressman is considering possible legal action.
"One of the doctors that came forward with an affidavit has refused to be identified and refused to be interviews, so that just tells you where his credibility is coming from. It's just completely baseless," Kind complains.
"They have to understand you just can't make things up and ruin people's reputations for the rest of their lives."
Kind says he?s glad voters saw through the ploy. On a night when other Democrats were dropping like flies, he carried 16 of 19 counties.
