WALK RAISES AWARENESS ABOUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Monday, October 25th, 2010 -- 9:36 AM
A handful of area residents took to the sidewalks of Neillsville Friday morning to raise awareness about domestic violence."We just want to get out the message that it happens in Clark County. We just want people to be aware that it's going on," stated Tami Englebretson, Clark County Domestic Violence and Assault Advocate.
The participants carried signs with anti-abuse messages from Tuft?s Mansion to the Fire Department and had a lunch provided by St. Mary?s Catholic Church.
Englebretson says abuse victims shouldn?t feel ashamed to come forward.
"We're not here to judge them. We're here to connect them to resources," she said.
Domestic violence continues to be a huge problem in the state. Officials say domestic homicides are at a 10-year high.
