FIELD FOR CLARK CO. SHERIFF STILL PACKED
Wednesday, October 20th, 2010 -- 1:07 PM
If you thought the race for Clark County Sheriff would get a bit less crowded after the Primary, you were wrong. There were two Democrats and three Republicans on the September ballot. Democrat Scott Haines and Republican Greg Herrick won their respective party?s nominations and will appear on the November 2 ballot.
But, there are at least three write-in candidacies.
Mark Prior has already registered to be an official write-in candidate.
Current Sheriff Louis Rosandich says he?s not behind the campaign to write his name on the ballot, but would serve again if he gets enough votes.
Now, Dorchester Police Chief Gary Leichtman says county residents are encouraging him to run as a write-in. Leichtman told us this morning he will fill out paperwork to become an official write-in candidate as well.
The County Clerk?s office says official write-in candidates still won?t appear on the ballot, but local clerks will be aware of their candidacy; therefore they can count votes if the intent is clear.
