AREA 'SCHOOLS OF RECOGNITION' HONORED IN MADISON

A number of area schools will be recognized for their success in educating students from low-income families Monday.Wisconsin Schools of Recognition have high poverty rates, but show above average student achievement in tests.
Locally, Abbotsford, Alma Center, Colby, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Owen-Withee and Thorp received the distinction.
The schools will receive a plaque and a check for $2,000 at an awards ceremony at the State Capitol.
