Friday, October 15th, 2010 -- 9:39 AM
Local governments hoping for some federal help to cover the costs of flood damage are now playing the waiting game.Gov. Jim Doyle officially requested a federal disaster declaration for Clark, Wood, Marathon, Taylor, and a half-dozen other counties yesterday.
If approved, the declaration would make public assistance available to help affected communities across the state recover from the disaster.
FEMA was in Wisconsin last week assessing damage. They verified more than $7.42 million in damage to the public infrastructure, including $730,000 in Clark County.
