RESOLUTION ON "UTVs" GOING TO COUNTY BOARD
Thursday, October 14th, 2010 -- 12:07 PM
Clark County ATV trails will open to larger UTVs next year, if the County Board approves a resolution recommended by the Forestry and Parks Committee today.UTVs, also known as LUVs or side-by-sides, are basically large ATVs with rollover protection, a steering wheel, cargo space and a seat that sits two people. Some common brand names are Yamaha Rhino, Polaris Ranger and the Kawasaki Mule.
Wisconsin started a voluntary statewide pilot program allowing them on trails, but counties had to opt in. Clark County decided not to.
The resolution approved by the committee today would see the county joining the program next year. The County Board will take it up at their meeting on November 9th. If approved, individual municipalities could still opt out.
