HIGHGROUND CHILI COOK-OFF, CAR SHOW A SUCCESS

Courtesy of The Highground:Sun and wind on Saturday brought a large crowd to The Highground for its annual Chili Cook-Off and Car Show. Sixteen participants brought in their best chili to be judged and enjoyed by guests in the park. Lynn Hodnett from Rice Lake took the prize for best presentation. Judges chose the following chili for the top three prizes. 1st place went to Larry Hodnett of Chippewa Falls, 2nd place to Rachel McBride of Neillsville with 3rd place going to Mary Schlagenhaft of Wisconsin Rapids. Popular votes went to Wanda Jennings winning 1st place, Larry Hodnett of Rice Lake taking 2nd and Dan Campbell of Loyal took 3rd. Congratulations to all of our winners and thanks for participating. We look forward to having all of you back in 2011.
Guests also enjoyed walking through the display of 45 antique cars which were in the Park for our 6th Annual Car Show. A 2010 Highground dash plaque was presented to each of the entries. Mark Gosh of Pittsville took home the trophy for his 1959 Chrysler Imperial. Congratulations Mark.
There were also morning and afternoon Legacy Stone Ceremonies taking place at The Highground. It was a grand day.
Volunteers and contributors are the heart of The Highground. Our mission is healing and education. The Highground is a place for all of us.
