SCAM TARGETS AREA RESIDENTS

The Marshfield Police Department is warning the public about a common scam that is targeting area residents again.Citizens are being contacted by a caller who claims to be their grandson or nephew. The caller will advise that they have been arrested for a violation in Canada and they need money to be released from jail. In some cases, another subject would get on the phone and claim to be a police officer who would give instructions as to wwere the bond money can be wired. The callers have becoming increasingly threatening.
Remember, this is a scam. You shouldn?t give personal information over the phone, or wire money without verification of the circumstances.
