Monday, September 27th, 2010 -- 11:17 AM
Wildlife officials say a wolf pack near Black River Falls have become too familiar with humans. The DNR is trying to trap the Bear Bluff Pack after it injured a German shorthair pointer on Sept. 18.According to the DNR, the wolf approached a hunter within 50 feet, and the animal got in front of the man's vehicle when he got in.
It's believed to be the first verified wolf attack on a bird-hunting dog in Wisconsin.
The pack has approached people numerous times despite wildlife officials attempts to keep wolves away from cranberry beds and areas of human activity.
But the DNR says they have to use lethal control actions to address safety concerns.
